“I cannot say how good this feels! To begin with I feel 20 years younger already and things just feel suddenly kind of… potentially normal. I believe the last gigs I had in Alabama were in December 2019 in Louisville Kentucky and also a nice Christmas party in Birmingham.
When I came back to Delaware in February 2020 – I did go to the Gibby Center in Middletown and drew a handful of people at an art event, with some kids and adults at my easel. Oh and now I do remember I had one Bat Mitzvah party in Conshohocken PA probably days before the shutdown.
I had only begun to hear about the virus and I remember when I showed up and greeted the parents the father seemed standoffish and did not shake my hand…Last fall I went to a nursing home in Hanover and wore a mask and went from window to window drawing nursing home residents through their room windows, which I found very sad.Although they were absolutely delighted. About to start here

“I really enjoyed getting to do this outdoor event. On my other (Facebook) post when I said I felt 20 years younger, what I meant was that our senses are very powerful.
We have all been through quite an unusual time with this pandemic.
Just the sights, sounds, smell, sunshine and overall feel of arriving at this event took me back years and years of regularly doing such things. Caricature and face painters will probably understand how it always feels when you arrive at a situation and scope it out with a little bit of trepidation and assessment!
I could tell from the moment I parked my van in this woman’s driveway and her son met me to help me bring my stuff out back that it was going to be an easy-going and feel-good situation. Realized I had a lot of thoughts that I hadn’t processed until I was in this situation once again. When I left Alabama to come back north and relocate my entire life and business I had no inkling we were on the verge of such a worldwide situation. I suppose I imagined I would come back to a temporary place for about 2 months and have most of my stuff in storage and be able to do lots of caricature and face painting gigs through previous contacts or whatever and then continue after I found a permanent home.
Only some of my closest friends know the extent of how opposite the situation became for me and the level of impact in so many ways. I actually realized today I was carrying a sense of feeling that I might never get back to doing events again before I was 70 or 80 when I might not be able to, ha ha! We all carry irrational feelings at times!
This just felt so hopeful and I am hoping that the gig sector of our economy will soon bounce back.”
