Social Media Post on My Lunch Break:
“Your daily dose of cuteness and watching things that in the least, interest and intrigue me! Yes. It was indeed a double yolker!
“A friend of mine downsized and we’ve been yard sailing some stuff together and she had some adorable little cast iron miniature pans… I love cast iron and so I wanted these… first time to carefully test them. Kind of fun and cute to just fry a couple eggs at a time which I often do for myself
“Last week I was browsing some things in an old trunk which included my high school and college transcripts and SAT scores. I noticed when I took the sat in the fall of my senior year I stated that I wanted to go into JOURNALISM. My three top college choices were U of D, Wake Forest and Temple. Ha! Talk about being out of touch with real possibilities….Somehow when I applied to the U of D I was accepted into the College of Business Administration. Because, probably, most girls with my skill set (whatever that was) were directed that way. Since I’m not too good at ciphering I surely had no interest in engineering
“By spring semester I recall going to the guidance counselor and telling him I wanted to be a photojournalist. Mr. Kent told me there was no real future in that for me but, since to achieve that I would need to go in as an art major, for the graphic design program which seem to be the closest means to achieve photojournalist… He said, “Sure. We can switch you to art. Switching from business administration to art is not an issue. If you had been accepted as an art major and wanted to do the reverse, that would be an issue.” (Paraphrase)
“Many moons ago someone told me he should have been boiled in oil (they were being hyperbolic to encourage me, not to dismiss the helpfulness of the system or the person involved, simply in the sense of acknowledging the disparity between my giftings and how sometimes we can’t seem to get the right direction to go, but that, is quite complicated, too…)… but I disagree. Mr. Kent was only doing what he understood of the world, academics and even me at the time. I remember him as an attentive listener during my high school years… (it took many years for me to understand me, so there is no expectation retroactively…)
“Yep. Eileen reveals some things that some new but not everyone of course why would they? While partaking as Secretary of Honor society, co-captain of band front flags, part of piano duet for spring children’s theater senior year, co-editor of Kronika, copy editor on Viking Voice, photographer of sports events and more and after-school film developer in the dark room between the band room and the shop, choir (and I forget which one I was in LOL)… I was living alone in my mother’s house for about 2 months, cooking my own meals and cleaning up her mess and writing checks to pay her bills and taking them in person to the Delaware State Hospital and finding her to sign them… I was driving her 1976 Buick Century to school and to a part-time job I started at Aletheia school and daycare which I was linked to when I told Mr. Ken Boulden I would need to quit Winter Guard (Melissa the drum major and I were selected to do the salute at the beginning of the indoor drill competitions) because I needed a part-time job so that when I turned 18 I could move out and get an apartment! HA.
“Talk about more than anyone wants to know on social media, I will surely transfer this to my blog eventually…
“I think it’s interesting.
“My first plan of responsibility had my father not died of a heart attack probably from the stress of the situation… in 10th grade my plan would be to rescue him, get an apartment when I was 18 and have him move in with me to caretake him.
“Now, had I actually become a photojournalist maybe I would be in the Ukraine right now but I really doubt it.
“Once I went in as an art major that became my passion.
“But hey… I can write up a storm of an expression on a 10 minute break while my eggs are getting cold…Oh. Yeah. I almost forgot them. Aren’t microphones wonderful?
“Your daily dose of whatever this is… ENJOY.
“And, you are welcome HA.”
