A Sampling From Four Recent Caricature Gigs (Since May 2)

Below are videos from four events I drew at since my last sharing here on May 2. I try to periodically update all the various places that I share these: Facebook personal and business pages, LinkedIn, my two websites Visual Design Arts and Creative Party Entertainment-Central PA…and eventually, here too! We are moving into the season where I am booking for holiday parties and events. Please contact me if you would like to book me in for a birthday party,...

House Portrait for Les and Betty

I have a color theory book called “Making Color Sing” and this hot pink used in my house portrait is called “Opera Rose” by Winsor and Newton! Intense colors excite me, and working them into a piece of art with the right harmony and all else, design-wise and form wise, can be quite a process. I met up with my cousin Les and his wife, Betty, about a month ago to deliver the framed original and two framed prints for each of their sons....

God, Flies, and European Hornets

(written to 9/6/23 to 9/14/23)When one is alone, a lot of things can start to feel worthy of writing about. Or at least thinking about. Or at least coming up with a grabbing title… I seem to have (or possibly create) odd-and-or-interesting experiences. And I dream dreams…sometimes…the very odd, memorable dream. When God Sees Us (When We See Him Not)

The verse was Psalm 32:8, and I have selected three different translations below, with the first being what I was listening to in my Old Testament audiobook. “I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” (NRSV) “I will instruct you...

A New Type of Asylum

Lunacy. Asylums. Refugees. How crazy is the state where you live? If one of your children or grandchildren decides to run away (with potential assistance of activists) so they can start so-called “gender affirming care” without your consent, how far do they need to be transported through the network into the “safety” of these mad asylums? It used to be that asylums were for the insane, and that we granted asylum to refugees fleeing from forms of insanity. But in...

The Literal Meaning of the Word “Hopeless”

Shortly after my first divorce was final I recall a friend visiting me and I felt so depressed I literally decided, during the conversation, to lay face down on the floor. I just felt I couldn’t take any more, and I stated that I felt “hopeless.” The friend then argued with me along the lines that because I was still trying and still attempting to figure things out, I couldn’t possibly be “hopeless.” Because, the word “hope” and “less” when...
