Why I Have to be Full of Myself

I’m a BADASS.

That’s my latest self-talk, after being targeted on Facebook with an ad for a gaudy costume jewelry piece featuring a sunflower that splits open to reveal a circle that says YOU ARE A BADASS.

Well I have posted and talked about sunflowers quite a bit on Facebook – it’s really one of my favorite flowers.

Before that ad showed in my newsfeed I had never used the word BADASS. But I suppose a Facebook bot surmised I might be one from other things I’ve said?

Now I think that’s funny!

I’m imagining me walking around randomly shouting “I’m a BADASS” to strangers.

Generally speaking, people who talk about themselves in superlatives might be considered narcissistic.

Because…who talks that way??!!

It would be easy to judge me as narcissistic, rather than ask the better question.

The better question would be: “What would make me talk like that??”

I mean, there is…
…Normal-speak
…Narcissist-speak
…Empowered Woman-speak

When an ordinary chicken-loving, artist-woman escapes an alternate universe publicly leaping over obstacles and propaganda with a single bound while tossing cans of spinach and spitting nails in her wake…THAT is pretty BADASS.

Finding your healthy voice is not narcissist-speak.

Just say noooooooo!!!!!!!!

BADASS women are women who feel immense fear and dread every morning they wake up – for a sustained time period – yet manage to put their feet on the floor and survive and thrive each 24 hours – sometimes even one hour or one minute at a time – and inch forward through mud!

YOU, TOO, CAN BE A BADASS WOMAN – if you need to be.
